How many treatments will I need?
The number of treatments required varies with the severity of the ailment and the patient’s response to therapy. Our goal is to get you as well as we can, as quick as we can. In order to achieve this, you must maintain your recommended treatment plan. To remain free of symptoms, a check-up is recommended, minimally every three to four months.
How will I feel after receiving care?
This, too, varies individually. Some people feel immediate improvement in their conditions but the chief complaint may resurface in a day or two. That is why care is more frequent in the beginning. Each treatment builds on the previous treatment. Occasionally, some people may feel fatigue after their treatment with relief shortly following. Again, each person’s reaction is dependent on their history & chief complaint. Most people respond well to receiving chiropractic & acupuncture care by showing pain relief, increased energy, better sleep & overall wellness.
Is Chiropractic care safe during pregnancy and for infants/children?
Most definitely. These are some of the most important times in life to receive chiropractic care. Dr. Melton has taken post-graduate studies through the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association (ICPA) to assist in providing quality care to these individuals. Dr. Melton is also certified in the Webster Technique which is a technique provided during prenatal care.
If am feeling great, why should I see a chiropractor?
How we feel is not a completely accurate indication of how our body is functioning. Only a small percentage of our nerves can detect touch, pressure, or pain. Chiropractic deals with how the entire nerve system functions. It is imperative for your health and your baby’s health to have the nerve system functioning optimally. During pregnancy, the mother’s body works twice as hard to provide for the new baby and her own body. A properly functioning nervous system decreases the stress on the mother’s body and allows her body to work more efficiently. This is the most important role chiropractic plays in pregnancy.
Is it safe for the baby? Does it hurt?
Yes, it is safe for the mom and the baby. We specialize in delivering specific, safe and gentle chiropractic care.
Can you help with headaches, nausea, sciatica or other symptoms during pregnancy?
Chiropractic adjustments are very effective at relieving the discomforts of pregnancy. During pregnancy, a mother experiences an amazing amount of change. There is increased weight, a change in the center of gravity, and the release of hormones, including relaxing, allowing ligaments to stretch enabling the birth process. These changes can cause or uncover underlining imbalance and improper functioning of the nervous system. These imbalances may be expressed through discomforts such as headaches, sciatica, nausea, low back pain, fatigue, etc. With Chiropractic adjustments the proper function is restored to the body and the discomforts are often resolved.
When should I start?
We recommend you start as early as possible.
Can Chiropractic help with a breeched baby (do you know the Webster Technique)?
A breeched baby does not mean an automatic c-section. I am trained in Webster intra-uterine constraint technique. This is a safe and gentle adjustment which removes constraint and usually allows the baby to turn to a head down position. Mothers often only learn of their baby’s breeched presentation between 36 and 38 weeks. I encourage you to learn and be aware of your baby’s position as early as possible and maintain proper posture to ensure optimal positioning of the baby for birth. When moms visit the office for Webster technique, they often notice that a lot of their other pregnancy discomforts disappear as well.
Pregnancy and birth need our respect—not intervention. Chiropractic is a natural approach to life and health which helps the mother gain trust in her body’s own ability to accomplish this incredible, innate enfoldment.
